The mission of the CSU Department of Physics is to conduct high-quality research worthy of international recognition. We strive to perform excellent teaching and mentoring for both undergraduate and graduate physics students, and serve students in other disciplines that take our courses and participate in available research opportunities. We strive to provide service to the university and the broader physics community, and engage the public in outreach and service.

Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, situated in the foothills of the scenic Rocky Mountains, a one hour drive north of metropolitan Denver. In addition to the cultural and recreational opportunities available in Fort Collins, Boulder, and Denver, the easily accessible Rocky Mountain area offers a wealth of outdoor activities, including, hiking, camping, fishing, and skiing.
