INDUCTIVE COIL PENDULUM WITH LAMP
INDUCTIVE COIL PENDULUM WITH LAMP
Demo Number
347
Location
On a cart by the main door
Description
Swing pendulum between the big magnet and the light flashes when pendulum (coil at the bottom) goes through the magnetic field.
Related Demos
Tips
With the bottom switch set to “Coil,” induced currents in the loop will quickly damp the oscillations.
With the switch set to “Light Bulb,” the current can be sent either through an incandescent bulb or a pair of LEDs.
It can be tough to see but there are two small pulses for the incandescent bulb as the flux changes direction in the center of the magnet.
