- Procedure
- Fill the beaker with cold tap water.
- Place the Density Rod into the beaker and observe that it floats. Note the temperature.
- Add hot water into the beaker (can use Hot Plate Demo 181 shelf 12)
- Density Rod will sink (this can work with hot tap water as well)

- To prevent corrosion of the aluminum cylinder, it should be wiped dry after the demonstration.
- Alternate Buoy Demo: Fill the included flask to about 1 inch above 500ml marking with cold tap water. Drop the cylinder into the flask with X side down. The cylinder will right itself.
