Department of Physics graduate student Chris Hilgenberg has received $14,000 from the Universities Research Association Visiting Scholars Award to support his research at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab).  His successful proposal was entitled: “Testing, Installation, Integration and Performance Studies of a Cosmic Ray Tagging System for the Short Baseline Neutrino Program Far Detector (ICARUS).”

He is currently based at Fermilab and has begun using a solid-state photosensor array designed and built at CSU to determine the viability of recycling several hundred scintillator bars from the recently decommissioned MINOS experiment that was operated in the Soudan Mine in Minnesota.
