Graduate student Derek Doyle, a member of Prof. Norm Buchanan’s neutrino group, has been instrumental in a pioneering effort to incorporate high-performance parallel computing facilities into the complex analyses of data collected by neutrino experiments. This effort is funded through the DOE’s Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) branch. The work has already resulted in staggering performance improvements for the NOvA experiment and broken a world record along the way. More on Derek’s work can be found in the following story.
