Getting to Lamar, Colorado

Lamar is in Prowers County, Colorado.  Prowers is one of three Colorado counties involved so far in Auger North.  The other two counties are Bent County, and Baca County.  We have had past town meetings in Springfield (Baca County) and Las Animas (Bent County).  We will tour all three counties on the Friday of the meeting.

To get to Lamar from Denver International Airport:   Take Pena Blvd. to E-470 south (toll, requires two cash tolls of about 2$US). After about 10 km out of the airport leave the E470 and take I-70 east for about 110km.  Then connect to US 287 at the town of Limon, Colorado, which will take you to Lamar.  You do have to take US 50 for a few miles, but the signs are good, and 50 and 287 share the same roadway.

Here are details from mapquest.com.  I am not sure of the starting point for these directions…somewhere at the airport.

We are recommending that you stay at the Cow Palace Inn for this first meeting so that we might all be in the same place.  There are several other hotels, and you may of course stay where you would like to stay.   List of Hotels.

The Cow Palace Inn is on the right (west) just after crossing a bridge to enter Lamar.  It is at the north end of the Lamar.  Lamar Community College is at the south end of town on the left (east).
