Broadband Ferromagnetic Resonance System

BBFMR System

The Broadband Ferromagnetic Resonance (FMR) spectrometer operates between 1 GHz and 7 GHz. The use of a strip transmission line gives the system its broadband capability. The system uses an HP 8310 synthesized sweeper as the microwave source. The magnetic sample is mounted in the strip-line device in such a way that the microwave magnetic field is in the plane of the sample. The magnet, which can produce static fields as high as 15kOe, can be rotated so that the applied field can be changed from in-plane to out-of-plane configuration and angle dependent measurements can be taken. The signal from the diode detector is detected through the SRS lock-in amplifier. The entire spectrometer is computer controlled.
