Long-Distance Propagation of Short-Wavelength Spin Waves

A collaboration between a group in Beihang University in China and Mingzhong Wu’s group in our department discovered a new approach for exciting spin waves with very short wavelengths.  This work may have far-reach implications for the future development of spin-wave-based information transmission and computation technology, and has been featured in an article in Nature Communications published in February 2018. Exploring Non-Trivial Nature of Topological Surface States in SmB6

Mingzhong Wu’s group in our department, in collaboration with scientists at Johns Hopkins University, UC Irvine, Argonne National Lab, and St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University, explored the non-trivial nature of topological surface states in topological Kondo insulator SmB6 through the use of spin-pumping techniques.  The results have been featured in a paper, with Tao Liu being the first author, that has been accepted for publication by Physical Review Letters in April 2018.
