Two graduate students from the CSU Department of Physics, Logan Sutton (advisor Jose de la Venta) and Grant Riley (advisor Kristen Buchanan) won poster awards at the 2017 Front Range Advanced Magnetics Symposium (FRAMS) that was held at Denver University on Aug. 29, 2017. Logan presented his work on the “Magnetic properties of vanadium oxide/ferromagnetic hybrid composites” and Grant discussed his work on “Thermal control of spin waves and spin caustic beams”.
The FRAMS conference, now in its third year, brings together researchers interested in magnetism and magnetic materials in the front range area to discuss research. This year there were 67 attendees from eight institutions: CSU, CU Boulder, UC Colorado Springs, Metropolitan State University of Denver, NIST, University of Wyoming, Sandia National Laboratory, and Denver University. The inaugural FRAMS conference was held at CSU in 2015.
