Post-Doctoral Position in Experimental High-Energy Physics

Colorado State University

Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

The High-Energy Physics Group at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a post-doctoral position. Opportunities are for work on the Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) experiment.  T2K is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment between the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) and the Super-Kamiokande detector. The goal of T2K is to measure the neutrino mixing angle q13 by observing nm to ne oscillations. The CSU T2K group is involved in the design and construction of T2K's 280m near detector.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. Robert J. Wilson and Prof. Walter Toki in the Colorado State University High-Energy Physics Group. The duties of the position would include development, construction, and installation of detector components, supervision of students and/or technicians, development of analysis software, travel to Japan for meetings, installation and shifts, helping to mentor CSU graduate students. Additional duties may be assigned, including contributions to other group activities such as the International Linear Collider and underground experiments. The candidate could begin March 15, 2008 and would reside at CSU.

Applicants with a PhD in experimental particle physics should apply online at:

and arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted online. [Letters may also be sent to: Prof. Robert J. Wilson, Department of Physics, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO 80523 USA.] Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but should be received by 22 February 2008 to receive full consideration.
