Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a medical imaging technique in which currents are applied on electrodes on the surface of the body, the resulting voltage is measured on the electrodes, and an inverse problem is solved to determine the conductivity and permittivity distribution in the interior. In this talk, I will describe clinical applications of EIT and the contribution of mathematics to the design of hardware and software. In particular, I will discuss EIT for lung imaging in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
