Ph.D. Candidate, Grant Riley, won the gold medal prize for his poster presentation at the IEEE Magnetics Society summer school. The summer school was held from June 14-19, 2015 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. There were approximately 100 attendees from all over the world.

His poster was entitled “Brillion light scattering measurements of spin waves in a thermal gradient.” Grant Riley has been working in Professor Kristen Buchanan’s group since Summer 2011. Dr. Buchanan’s group’s research is focused on exploring and understanding the unique magnetization states and dynamic processes that can be found in magnetic nanostructures.
